· The MariPay teamMany good businesses have no online shop: a school collecting fees, a church taking donations, a shop that takes orders on WhatsApp, a freelancer sending invoices. A payment link gives all of them a professional way to be paid by mobile money in minutes.
What a payment link is
It is a web address that opens a hosted MariPay checkout page. Customers choose their network, enter their number and approve the prompt on their phone. You do not build or host anything, and the amount and your business details are fixed on our side, so they cannot be tampered with in the browser.
Fixed or open amounts
- Fixed amount: ideal for a product, a fee or an invoice. Everyone pays the same.
- Open amount: leave the amount out and the payer chooses it. Good for donations and tips.
Where to use them
- Send it in a WhatsApp chat or SMS next to your invoice.
- Put it in a social media bio or post.
- Print the QR code on a poster, a menu or a receipt so people can pay by scanning.
- Add it to an email signature or a PDF invoice.
Knowing who paid
Every payment made through a link appears in your dashboard with the customer's details and status, and you can see the people who have paid through each link. If you also use the API, a payment.completed webhook fires for these payments just like any other, so you can automate fulfilment later.
A quick way to try it
- Create an account and add your business.
- Open Payment Links, create one, and switch to test mode first.
- Pay it yourself in test mode and approve it, to see the whole flow.
- When your account is verified, switch to live and share the link.
Payment links, QR codes, the dashboard, the API and test mode are free to use. You only pay the 5% fee on successful live collections.
